Twenty-five years ago, a group of community members raised about $175,000 to fund one endowed scholarship and 15 teaching grants for CSISD. In the following years, the Education Foundation invested over $2.5 million in teaching grants, awarded over $1 million in scholarships, aided nearly 5,000 families at Chrissy’s Closet, provided books for over 6,000 of our youngest readers and so much more.
“It’s incredible to think about all that’s been done and how many students and teachers have been impacted through the work of the Foundation over the years,” shared Teresa Benden, Executive Director of the Education Foundation. “We are so grateful for this village of supporters who believe in education and its value for our community.”
The reception illuminated donors and shone on educational programs through the theme of “Lighting Up Learning.” Highlights of the event include demonstrations of drones, book vending machines, culinary creations, and a chemistry road show.
Established in 1999, the College Station ISD Education Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. Tax-deductible gifts made to the foundation provide funds for opportunities above and beyond the normal operating budget of the school district which are not available through tax revenues. Its mission is to partner with the community to provide resources to inspire learning, enhance opportunities, and recognize the successes of students and teachers. The Foundation supports over 14,000 students as well as 2,000 teachers and staff at nineteen campuses
